My Personal Life
Thanks for visiting this website. This one page tells about my retirement, my interests, and personal life & interests.
Retiring in 1991 at age 47 from a hectic business career, my life has changed dramatically since. After taking a few months to adjust from the "too much time" syndrome, I gradually re-filled my life with meaningful activities.

Life Overview
Work was hard, stressful, demanding, yet exciting - I feel like I made a difference... and trust that I will continue to do so. I have always lived "outside the box." This made life tought, but fun. I love my wife, kids, and grandkids. I enjoy people. Retirement, though initially painful, is now rewarding. I have lots of interests and avocations - being somewhat of a Renaissance Man - which keep me occupied. I enjoy smelling the roses and wouldn't change Life a bit..

Retirement Activities
Travel: Additionally, my wife, Liz, and I travel and vacation a lot. We've been all over the U.S. as well as in Quebec, British Columbia, Belize, Honduras, many places in Mexico, England, Scotland, Athens, Santorini, Ireland, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, and other destinations. We travel a great bit domestically, as well. Liz and I have also taken numerous cruises.
Church & Volunteer Work: At current church, Sierra Pines United Methodist, have been: Member of Family Life Committee; Chair of church's Administrative Council; Chair of Vision & Strategy Committee; Co-Chair of 4-day Family Camp; “Dinner Dean” for mid-week multi-generational youth program; Bible Study Teacher. At former church, Sunnyvale Presbyterian, was: Co-Leader of Logos program; member of Community Outreach Committee; and Program Co-Leader at 4-day Family Camp. Former Board Member of Minds in Recovery, a non-profit for mental health services. Was a board member of Minds in Recovery, an organization for the severely mentally ill. Also served as a board member and chair of the architectural committee of the Triana North Home Owners Association.

Personal
Wife: Liz and I married in 1983 - she is and has been the light of my life. Our years have been fun, adventurous, and full of good companionship. We like each other and enjy traveling, going out on dates, riding in our Classic Cars, sampling ethnic food, and a wide varieit of other activities.
She worked earlier as the Executive Assistant for the CEO of BDS, Inc. (a Silicon Valley printer manufacturer) and then, from 1983 until 1991, for all three of my consulting firms (Barry Barnes & Company, The Barnes & Senne Group, and Leadership Growth, Inc.) in successively more responsible logistics and financial management roles. Liz re-joined the "traditional" work force in 1991, rising quickly from a “temp” worker to a member of the company’s Executive Team, managing five call centers (two in Oregon, one in Grass Valley, one in Hollywood, and another in Wisconsin and coordinating activities for ones in Japan and London) as Director of Customer Service for Grass Valley Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Tektronix. She then ran GBS Financial Services and owned GM&B Snacks, a two-county vending business from early 1999 until late 2004. She became Customer Relationships Manager with PC-Doctor, Inc., a computer diagnostics software firm in Reno, Nevada in late 2004.
Adult Kids: With Liz Haggard Barnes: Lianne, born 1985, college student, nanny, store supervisor, and singer, Reno, NV; Kelly Len, born 1979, food services supervisor, mother of David, Ben, Ethan, & Baylie and wife of Rob Flecksteiner, Penn Valley, CA. By Charlene Campisi Barnes Stephens: Jenn, born 1972, Denton, TX, former production manager and sales director, mother of AJ & Lucas, and wife to Christopher Fili; Kelly Michelle, born 1969, interior designer, wife of Brad Bullock, mother of Bailey, Irving TX; and Stace, born 1966, international attorney, father to Alex & Gregory, husband to Tanya, Houston, TX.
Homes: Liz and I lived Sunnyvale in the Silicon Valley area, and then moved to the country in the California “Gold Country” foothills of the Sierra Nevada
Mountains in 1989 where we lived on two small farms, then a development in the country near Grass Valley, CA for 15 years. In late 2004, we moved to Reno, Nevada. Our move to Reno has been a surprisingly good one and we enjoy being back in a city... and particularly all the good ethnic and quality food available at the many Reno restaurants.
Prior Homes: Prior to marrying Liz, I lived in the following locations: Santa Clara, CA; Los Gatos, CA; Sunnyvale, CA; Cupertino, CA; Garland, TX, Irving, TX, Richardson, TX; Hendersonville, NC; Alamogordo, NM: Albuquerque, NM; Rockville, MD; Gaithersburg, MD; Shreveport, LA; and Bossier City, LA. As a child and teenager, I lived in: Bossier City, LA; Topeka, KS; Clark AFB, Pampanga Province, Philippine Islands; Sequin, TX; Denison, TX; Southmayd, TX; Randolph AFB, TX; San Marcos, TX; Zeahle, TX; Arlington, TX; Ada, Oklahoma; Stonewall, Oklahoma; Boca Raton, FL; and Randolph Field, TX.
